Thanks to the perspective provided by this delightful generator, I've decided to go with the boots. As soon as Seebs gets paid. I really hope my shoes hold together until then. The right sole is cracked right across.

Sounds like a good call. =/ I always get sentimental about throwing out old shoes, but sometimes they gotta go and new ones gotta come in.

No kidding. I got a couple pairs of RedWings, lessee... eight years ago? One pair for summer (steelcapped and water-resistant), one for winter (steelcapped, insulated, and waterproof) and they last FOREVER. First footgear I've ever had that actually got resoled instead of thrown out and replaced.

I still have the Red Wing work boots I bought when I was 18 or 19. Only reason I don't just wear those all the time is because I'm too lazy for all the laces. Engineer boots just slip on. They're not as heavy either; those work boots weigh like 8 pounds.
