[i]hopeevey:

Exercise Report: Yesterday I swam for 40 minutes. I didn't push for laps, just kept moving in the water. After Thursday's workout, I felt gentle exercise was best. I do not want to injure myself again. I did yoga this morning, via yogatoday.com. The routine wasn't as beginner as they seemed to think it was, but it was good. I'm glad I'd done the Yoga for Any Body routines - it gives some great ways to modify postures for rounder people. I'm looking forward to trying some of the other videos available there.

Writing Report: Yesterday and today I did some posting at the online Unicorn game. Today I've done some writing for an In Nomine game. Once I post this, I'm going to sit down and work on my YA novel for at least 1/2 an hour before I hit the sack.

Gratitude List:
1. doing yoga
2. knitting
3. my upcoming In Nomine game
4. plot conferencing
5. Tetley's Vanilla Pear Rooibos tea
6. my Treo
7. my roommate
8. getting a replacement for my expired debit card
9. walking in a pretty, pretty storm
10. Air conditioning

Question of the Day: Did you blow things up this weekend?

[i]ladymalchav: Doctor Who, Season 4, Episode 13, Journey's End

This episode of Doctor Who almost made me break my computer. For serious.

Why RTD is SO lucky I'm not going to England next month. )

I am just so very, very upset right now. Too upset to make macros, even. WTF, show?

Fables VOL 10: The Good Prince Fables VOL 10: The Good Prince by Bill Willingham

My review

rating: 5 of 5 stars
As I often do, I read this all at a go. It's the thickest collection, and one of the best. A couple of the issues have a different artist. I didn't much care for that artist's work - it seemed much more cartoonish than the rest of the series. But the art was good enough to get the point across, and thankfully brief.

I just wish I didn't have to wait for November 2008 to read the next one!

[i]alisgray:

predictably very slow day in the storefront.

Kitty health: She's an old, old lady. she's mostly very healthy with her few remaining teeth, and she still jumps and sasses and all that. But she's got a LOT of these odd cysts in her skin, and one of the big ones on her back has opened (it's hard to discuss this because it's kinda gross and I love her.) The vet has examined it, cleaned it up, and given me some meds and stuff. But it's where she can lick it, and that's no good. She can't wear a collar, because there's another cyst on her neck that might open if it got rubbed. Amusingly, the vet recommended I find her a onesie to keep her from licking it. So far I haven't found time to do this, but shall this evening after work. I imagine she'll hate it. I'll need to provide her a way to use the litter box. Poor furry old thing.

The AC in the shop is fixed, HURRAY! My monsterboy and I had a chance to look at CONvergence some last night, even hang out with [info]paulzebras and company. That was nice. The Dreaming is gorgeous. The Space Lounge has never sounded better. Many of our best former Minneapolitans are visiting! It really is one of the most creative, most fun SF conventions around. I hope my sweetheart manages to love it too.

The age-old land war in New Mexico seems to have reached a long-standing detente. Anna and Daniel are evidently prospering this year and eventually this strange old debt will be paid in full. Living well does beat revenge.

[i]4hour_ramona: i need to know now

where do all the cool kids get their 1/2 sleeve stripey knit tops? i love and covet and never find in stores. and i have KILLER shopping-fu, so i really don't get it.

there's a punkish song from the early 80's that has the following line, in reference to a post-party waking upping beer drinking, "...i'll shake it around a little bit to make sure there ain't no cigarette butts in it, and then i'll turn on the television set and watch my favorite show. and guess what that is ...felix the cat!" what song is it? i need to know now!

and now for a wheels question - the big jumbo outdoor wheels that make you look and feel like you're skating on a couple of souped-up dodge ram trucks - kryptonics route 70's? or something else, something bigger? gotta know now.

[i]sockschan: "Being Lina Inverse" is a felony

SLAYERS REVOLUTION! THERE IS SLAYERS IN THE WORLD AGAIN!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!

So good! So perfect an intro back into this world for the longtime Slayers fans!! Lina vs. Pirates! What's not to love?! I adore the fact that she's nearly hunted bandits "into extinction." *snerk*

The critter thing is some sort of low-level Mazoku. That's my guess. Mostly because Lina's a Mazoku magnet of some sort. Low-level because it's got that stupid form; the higher level a Mazoku is, usually the larger and more humanoid looking it is. Still, it's powerful enough to pull off a Dragon Slave, but then for a servant of Shabby, that shouldn't be a problem.

Love the backsplash for the end credits, showing the Mazoku power chart. Esp. the fact that Fibrizio & Gaav have been burned/chipped out of the chart, given their demise. I'm wondering if this season will have something to do with Zellas Metallium angling to be the only general of Shabranigdo left. After all, it's now her, Deep Sea Dolphin (and yay for Dolph Zork being cast in reference to her) and Dynast Grauscherra. My understanding is that Dynast is sort of temporarily indisposed, so if I'm right, then we'll be going after Dolphin. Evil cat fight? Well, Zellas doesn't ever dirty her own hands; she has Xellos for that. And he, in turn, has Lina Inverse.

The opening showed a beastman too! We haven't really seen many beastmen since the first season, so that'll be fun. And Amelia cast Vis Farank on her FEET for a powered kick! That was pretty awesome.

My research says that Revolution will be split into two story-arcs, each taking half a season. The first ep was broadcast on July 3rd, so this is excellent turn around time for the fansubbers. I hope they keep it up!

I am laying good odds on the Blast Sword showing up as well. The Number One thing that's really tripping me out though: Gorun Nova showing up at the end of the opening credits. Umm...? We shall see.

Did I mention I was really happy about this?
If you'll excuse me, I'm WAY behind on my Slayers novels....

[i]awdrey_gore: Corn Hill must wait for next Saturday

We have the coordinates and a plan to get to a place where one largely cannot get by car, but then we saw our electricity bill. I wanted to cry. Henry needs to get up into the attic and find out what is making our attic fan malfunction so he can order parts. And I need to clean out the garage. Corn Hill will have to wait for next Saturday. But we got plenty of content at New Corn Hill to keep me busy researching and photo editing (to my limited skills).

Fisted Angel

Doesn't she just look like she's saying, "Get to work now!"? I think she is. And since once one of her angelic brethren fell in this cemetery, evidence of which I will show later, I feel I should follow her heed.

[i]msfledermaus: A belly fulla sausage and eyes full of fireworks...

Fourth of July on the Island is special...breathtakingly special.

When it's the Fourth, my island ends up getting cordoned off with lots of traffic cones and a couple of cop cars to manage the crowds on the small and large bridges nearby. These cops don't let you onto the island unless you live there or have been invited there, otherwise we'd be swarmed with people looking for parking. If you make it past the cops,(which really isn't as hard as it looks) you discover that my neighborhood has become a big fat party where you jump from backyard to backyard, eating and drinking and sharing mosquito repellant. I lit lots of candles on the backyard table, and my friends and neighbors grilled hotdogs and lamb chunks until the first of the city fireworks started up...then we trooped up to our small bridge to get the best view in town. It was a slightly shorter display than past years, but it was still gorgeous, and we all ooohed and ahhhed and cheered at the big finale wrapping up the show...then back to the grilling, where we finished up the dogs and the pizza someone ordered for Ms Kitty. It was a lovely night, with the candles and the good company and just getting a chance to sit and chill out...

I still have hot dogs and cupcakes in my fridge. Now *that* is a balanced diet:)

[i]csinman: Theft of laptops and kidneys

Man, I got off the phone with [info]kehrli concerning the Clarion West laptop theft, opened up my friends list, and NINE out of THIRTEEN entries were on the same topic. I might as well add to them:

I feel really badly for the people missing their stuff. I would be heartbroken if someone stole my laptop. I've reached, as perhaps many of us have, a point where I feel my technology is an extension of myself. I don't think I would be much more upset if someone stole one of my kidneys (though waking up in a bathtub full of ice would probably be an added misery). I hope you all get your property back, and I hope a black market organ dealer catches the responsible party.

P.S. I can't help it; my dad was a cop and he made sure I knew the distinction, and I feel compelled to pass it on. From dictionary.reference.com:
rob verb, robbed, rob·bing.
–verb (used with object)
1. to take something from (someone) by unlawful force or threat of violence; steal from.
bur·glar·ize verb, -ized, -iz·ing.
–verb (used with object)
1. to break into and steal from.

[i]smashingstars:

Oh, and by the way, I am reading all your Doctor Who posts, I just haven't gotten around to responding because OMG BUSY.

Eddie mentioned that he watched some Doctor Who, I think the Tom Baker one, and he always loved an episode where the Doctor asked, "Do you know what this lever does?" No one knows, so the Doctor smugly says "I do!" and pulls it.

I can't believe the current Doctor is only 6 months older than I am. Unpossible!
